In 1972, the St. Louis Cardinals made the somewhat surprising decision to start quarterback Tim Van Galder on opening day against the Baltimore Colts, despite the fact that Van Galder had never played a snap in the NFL before, despite the fact that Van Galder had done nothing since getting drafted all the way back in 1966, and despite the fact that the Colts had the number one ranked pass defense in football in 1971. Somehow, Tim Van Galder had a game to remember, and beat his childhood idol against all odds. This is the story behind that incredible game
